Our Federal Government Treats Illegal Aliens Better Than Our Veterans

There are organizations that support brave men and women of the armed forces to get help navigating the bureaucracy of the Veterans Administration - but they are privately funded with no help from feds.

Unfortunately, after the Gulf War, Congress passed legislation that opted out the federal government obligation to its veterans because they realized their “Early-Out” program was costing more than they wanted to pay; ignoring how much funding and material is being spent and sent to foreign nations – clearly an area to cut back rather than cut back on our national defense and military system. It took ten years for Congress and Veterans Administration to recognize the Gulf War Syndrome – and then told veterans they were not qualified for retroactive payment because too much time had passed since initial compensation request for verified medical conditions. In addition, because of a bill passed by Congress in 1996, six years after the Gulf War, veterans who are supposed to get medical compensation will have that amount deducted from the “Early-Out” program applied by the Clinton administration to cut down on the military – before any veteran can receive a medical compensation check for injuries, disease, and health complications due to activity in war zones.

Ronald Reagan had a policy that a strong military and defense provided concrete deterrence against foreign enemies better than any other policy. That means technological advancement, which later administrations, like Clinton policies, allowed the Chinese to steal.

Under the Obama administration matters worsened, in terms of underfunding and the attitude and corruption within the Veterans Administration; congressional members who send troops in harms way, but ignore the needs of active and veteran service members and their families.

Five Finger Death Punch is an American heavy metal band that originated from Las Vegas, Nevada, debuting with their first album entitled The Way of the Fist, released in 2007. The band originated with vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Bingham was replaced with guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Bassist Matt Snell departed in 2010, replaced by Chris Kael in 2011.

The name of the band is derived from classic martial arts cinema.

In August of 2014, Five Finger Death Punch released a video for the song “Wrong Side of Heaven”, a video about homeless veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI and depression after serving in the military, yet not receiving the help needed by an uncaring federal government and inept Veterans Administration. Illegal aliens are treated better and a soldier who deserted and then got captured, is traded for five Islamic Jihadists from Guantanamo.

Trump:

You know, the only one we can't get back into the country is our Marine. I mean, everyone else is flowing in from Mexico and the Marine is stuck in prison.

The Marine Trump is referring to is Andrew Tahmooressi, who crossed in to Mexico with firearms mistakenly and being held by the Mexican government in prison. [See also: Twitter users want to trade Andrew Tahmooressi for Miley Cyrus.

Philip R. Dunn, Fox News wrote:

I strongly believe that within the next four weeks U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi will be released from El Hongo Federal Prison in Mexico and able to walk on American soil once again. … I have been providing legal and spiritual support to Andrew and his mom, Jill, since May. I assisted Jill in hiring Fernando Benitez, Andrew’s Mexican lawyer, and have worked closely with him during the last three court hearings. … Andrew had no intention of entering Mexico with firearms, and there is proof. The video evidence taken by Mexican customs officials at the border, which was entered into evidence at the hearing in Tijuana Federal Court on Sept. 9, confirms Andrew’s version of the facts and impeaches the testimony of customs officers who previously testified under oath. It is clear that Andrew received the green light to enter Mexico without being stopped, and that he was the one who decided to contact a customs officer in an effort to find a way to turn around. Therefore, he lacked the necessary criminal intent to commit the crimes alleged. … The Mexican Constitution requires that a search warrant be issued prior to a search of a vehicle stopped at the border. The video clearly shows customs officials searching the truck long before the search warrant was issued, a point specifically denied by customs officers when they testified.

President Trump kept his promise to build a wall on our southern border between the United States and Mexico. With 450 miles complete—and many more in progress—illegal crossings plummeted over 87 percent in areas where the wall went up.

By enforcing America’s immigration laws, President Trump made major gains toward ending the humanitarian crisis at our border; keeping criminals, terrorists, and drugs out of our country; and protecting American workers and taxpayers against job loss and misuse of the welfare system.

Administration Achievements

ACHIEVING A SECURE BORDER

Secured the Southern Border of the United States

  • Built over 400 miles of the world’s most robust and advanced border wall

  • Illegal crossings have plummeted over 87 percent where the wall has been constructed

  • Deployed nearly 5,000 troops to the Southern border. In addition, Mexico deployed tens of thousands of their own soldiers and national guardsmen to secure their side of the U.S.–Mexico border

  • Ended the dangerous practice of Catch-and-Release, which means that instead of aliens getting released into the United States pending future hearings never to be seen again, they are detained pending removal, and then ultimately returned to their home countries

  • Entered into three historic asylum cooperation agreements with Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala to stop asylum fraud and resettle illegal migrants in third-party nations pending their asylum applications

  • Entered into a historic partnership with Mexico, referred to as the “Migrant Protection Protocols,” to safely return asylum-seekers to Mexico while awaiting hearings in the United States

Fully enforced the immigration laws of the United States

  • Signed an executive order to strip discretionary Federal grant funding from deadly “sanctuary” cities

  • Fully enforced and implemented statutorily authorized “expedited removal” of illegal aliens

  • The Department of Justice prosecuted a record-breaking number of immigration-related crimes

  • Used Section 243(d) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) to reduce the number of aliens coming from countries whose governments refuse to accept their nationals who were ordered removed from the United States

  • Ended asylum fraud, shut down human smuggling traffickers, and solved the humanitarian crisis across the Western Hemisphere

  • Suspended, via regulation, asylum for aliens who had skipped previous countries where they were eligible for asylum but opted to “forum shop” and continue to the United States

  • Safeguarded migrant families, and protected migrant safety, by promulgating new regulations under the Flores Settlement Agreement

  • Proposed regulations to end the practice of giving free work permits to illegal aliens lodging meritless asylum claims

  • Issued “internal relocation” guidance

  • Cross-trained United States Border Patrol agents to conduct credible fear screenings alongside United States Citizenship and Immigration Services adjudication personnel to reduce massive backlogs

  • Streamlined and expedited the asylum hearing process through both the Prompt Asylum Claim Review (PACR) and the Humanitarian Asylum Review Process (HARP)

  • Launched the Family Fraud Initiative to identify hundreds of individuals who were fraudulently presenting themselves as family units at the border—oftentimes by trafficking children—in order to protect child welfare

  • Improved screening in countries with high overstay rates and reduced visa overstay rates in many of these countries

  • Removed bureaucratic constraints on United States consular officers that reduced their ability to appropriately vet visa applicants

  • Worked with Mexico and other regional partners to dismantle the human smuggling networks in our hemisphere that profit from human misery and fuel the border crisis by exploiting vulnerable populations

Secured our Nation’s immigration system against criminals and terrorists

  • Instituted national security travel bans to keep out terrorists, jihadists, and violent extremists, and implemented a uniform security and information-sharing baseline that all nations must meet in order for their nationals to be able to travel and emigrate to the United States

  • Suspended refugee resettlement from the world’s most dangerous and terror-afflicted regions

  • Rebalanced refugee assistance to focus on overseas resettlement and burden-sharing

  • 85 percent reduction in refugee resettlement

  • Overhauled badly broken refugee security screening process

  • Required the Department of State to consult with states and localities as part of the Federal government’s refugee resettlement process

  • Issued strict sanctions on countries that have failed to take back their own nationals

  • Established the National Vetting Center, which is the most advanced and comprehensive visa screening system anywhere in the world

Protected American workers and taxpayers

  • Issued a comprehensive “public charge” regulation to ensure newcomers to the United States are financially self-sufficient and not reliant on welfare

  • Created an enforcement mechanism for sponsor repayment, deeming to ensure that people who are presenting themselves as sponsors are actually responsible for sponsor obligations

  • Issued regulations to combat the horrendous practice of “birth tourism”

  • Issued a rule with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to make illegal aliens ineligible for public housing

  • Issued directives requiring Federal agencies to hire United States workers first and prioritize the hiring of United States workers wherever possible

  • Suspended the entry of low-wage workers that threaten American jobs

  • Finalized new H-1B regulations to permanently end the displacement of United States workers and modify the administrative tools that are required for H-1B visa issuance

  • Defended United States sovereignty by withdrawing from the United Nations’ Global Compact on Migration

  • Suspended Employment Authorization Documents for aliens who arrive illegally between ports of entry and are ordered removed from the United States

  • Restored integrity to the use of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) by strictly adhering to the statutory conditions required for TPS

Enter Joe Biden~

The Biden administration has systematically abandoned the border security policies and immigration reforms that enabled the Trump administration to turn back the tide of illegal immigration. With the floodgates to illegal immigration wide open once again, drug cartels and human traffickers are cashing in and both American and immigrant lives are at greater risk. It doesn’t have to be this way. In 2019, when faced with an acute, albeit less severe, border crisis than the one we face today, the Trump administration implored Congress to close loopholes in the immigration system. Then, as now, Congress refused to act. Get exclusive insider information from Heritage experts delivered straight to your inbox each week. Subscribe to The Agenda >> Rather than let the situation at the border continue to deteriorate, Trump took executive action. He continued to build the border wall, as the Border Patrol requested. He started a never-before-used (but authorized by Congress in 1996) “Remain in Mexico” program requiring asylum seekers from Central America to stay in Mexico during their immigration proceedings. And he reached cooperative agreements with El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras requiring those countries to take back any migrants who had sought asylum with the U.S. without first seeking protection in a “safe third country” they had passed through on their way to the U.S. >>> Congress Should Not Approve a Path to Citizenship for the Nation’s 11 Million Undocumented Immigrants These changes quickly halted the caravans coming to the U.S. because migrants knew they would no longer be able to enter and disappear into the U.S. simply by claiming fear. By late 2019, our southern border was under control. A new public health threat emerged in 2020. Moving early in the COVID pandemic to help contain that danger, the Trump administration authorized border officials to turn back migrants for public health safety (“Title 42”). The Biden administration, however, has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. It immediately stopped border wall construction, halted the “Remain in Mexico” program, tore up the asylum cooperative agreements, ended most deportations, requested congressional amnesty for the untold millions of illegal aliens in the U.S., decreased use of Title 42 health protections, and repeatedly messaged that no unaccompanied alien child would be turned away. Predictably, historic numbers of immigrants—from all over the world, not just south of the border—flocked to enter the U.S. illegally. Human smugglers are pocketing $14 million a day, profiting royally from their “services” that often leave women raped in route and children abandoned at journey’s end. Border agents have intercepted known terrorists, gang members and sexual predators, but no doubt others have slipped through. Illegal aliens have been transported throughout the U.S. even after testing positive for COVID. Knowing that the Border Patrol is being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of illegal entries, drug traffickers have picked up the pace, too. The amount of deadly fentanyl seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the first four months of this year exceeds what was seized in all of 2020. How many Americans have to die from these drugs before this administration will implement policies to secure the border? Charged with addressing the border, Vice President Kamala Harris finally went there last week, stopping by an El Paso Border Patrol facility, miles from the actual border, on her way home to California. She has spent a bit more time in Guatemala and Mexico, where she unconvincingly told their citizens not to come to the U.S. and promised their governments $4 billion over four years to fix the problem. If history is a guide, that money will be absorbed by corrupt systems in those countries, leaving any root causes untouched. Washington needs to return to an immigration and border security policy that prioritizes American interests. Our leaders should act now to promote legal immigration, prevent illegal immigration, and secure the border from drugs, human trafficking, and the cartels on both sides of the border. >>> Biden’s Border Polls Lower Than Bottom of Rio Grande We know how to do it: continue building the border wall; reinstate the Remain in Mexico program and the safe third country requirements and agreements; consistently use Title 42 authority until COVID is no longer a global pandemic threat; stop welcoming and admitting unaccompanied alien children into the U.S.; end “catch-and-release”; enforce existing immigration laws, including deportations; and expand employment verification to ensure employers hire only work-authorized employees. The president and vice president have sworn an oath to protect their fellow Americans. Yet their administration’s immigration policies are undermining homeland security. The prior administration showed how to turn this rapidly deteriorating situation around. This administration can and must do the same.
